Art Smarts with Loose Parts
Building Brains and Creativity Through Play
Learn how you can provide a stimulating art environment that will spark children’s creative energy and joy for art with loose parts. Children have a keen eye for aesthetics. When given the time, space and opportunity to explore with loose parts, their creations naturally become intentional and more meaningful. Explore loose parts play that will develop children’s sensory awareness and expand their imaginations. An environment rich in these open ended play opportunities will nurture children’s sense of curiosity and creativity as they grow.A variety of innovative loose parts ideas are paired with beautiful photos to inspire ideas you can take back to your classroom on Monday morning.
OBJECTIVES/LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Learn the benefits that loose parts can bring to the artful play of children Open ended materials support play and engagement and inspires children to collaborate, innovate and think creatively.
- Given the time, children have a keen eye for aesthetics. Discover new methods and techniques using natural materials and media.
- Participants will have time to create with natural loose parts and other various media to reinforce how open-ended experiences offer deeper and more creative experiences for children.
- Ideas for providing a creative art program and for setting up an inviting setting that deals with the “mess” art area full of loose parts
BENEFIT TO CONFEREES & CHILDREN:
A variety of art activities and materials will be shared and demonstrated. Conferees will learn how to provide the environment and creative surroundings for children to touch, hold, shape and experience many different materials and media in their own way. We’ll look at ways to set up the loose parts classroom. Let’s have fun, get inspired and bring out the creativity within yourself and our children!
SUMMARY:
Loose parts allow children the freedom to arrange and rearrange , creating their own rules and designs and allowing the intention to be on the process and not the product. The art of young children is a celebration of creativity, imagination, and self expression. Each creation reflects the uniqueness of the child who creates it. For young children, art offers opportunities to make things all their own. It provides colors, textures, and designs to explore, and ways to express feelings they can’t yet translate into words. Each satisfying experience encourages children to explore and experiment, to trust their own sense of creativity, and to take pride in their accomplishments
