Iowa BEST Summit 2022
Registration is underway for the 2022 Iowa BEST (Behavioral, Equitable, Social-Emotional, Trauma-Informed Health in Schools) Summit to be held in Des Moines on Oct. 10-11.
Sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education and the Iowa Center for School Mental Health, the summit will focus on practical solutions for school-based social, emotional, and behavioral health.
Participants will learn how to take a holistic approach within their schools, incorporating the latest research, resources and best practices. The goal is to build mental wellness supports and capacity for schools, districts and regions.
The keynote speaker will be Robert Brooks, who has lectured nationally and internationally to audiences of parents, educators, mental health professionals, and business people on topics pertaining to motivation, resilience, family relationships, the qualities of effective leaders and executives, and balancing our personal and professional lives. Brooks has written extensively on behavioral issues in the classroom setting.
The summit is designed for PreK-12 educators, counselors, administrators, paraeducators and school mental health providers. In addition, AEA personnel who support social, emotional and behavioral health, university faculty who support preservice educators and community stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
