Dawn Lero joins ISU as one of the Early Childhood-PBIS Coach / Consultant. She will provide coaching and consultation for Childcare Programs in a ten-county area of Southeast Iowa. Dawn and her family relocated from Virginia in April 2022. She has worked in Virginia as an Early Intervention Provider for 7 years. Her last role in Virginia was as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant for a pilot program.  Dawn has a bachelor’s in Family Ministry from Concordia University Texas in 2007, a Master’s in Human Forensic Mental Health in May of 2015 from Concordia University St. Paul in 2015, and holds an Infant Mental Health Family Specialist Endorsement and holds a CFCS-HDFS certification with AAFCS since 2017.

Dawn lives in Mediapolis with her husband, Carl, and her two children, Edmund (11) and Karlana (8). She enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering as a PLAY Consultant for families with young children displaying signs of Autism.
